The place called Čara is just 20 km distant from Vela Luka, spreading on the hill slopes above a vast field called Čarsko polje. To the south of Čara one will find a village of Zavalatica with numerous apartments available for holiday rental.
In the past, Zavalatica was a summer residence to many a Korčula’s nobleman, the most prominent one being the poet Kanavelić who lived in the 17th century.
Zavalatica is situated 2 km south of Čara and is reachable by a small asphalted road leading through vineyards of the acclaimed Pošip. Accommodation in apartments or private houses is available to visitors and guests, and there is also a store, a cafe and a restaurant.
The neighbouring cove called Žitna, merely 300 m distant from the centre of Zavalatica, hides a stunning pebbly beach, and heading to the south-east of Zavalatica two more pebbly beaches are to be found.
