Ferry and catamaran lines connect Vela Luka with Split, whereas bus lines connect it with Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Sarajevo. Visitors can find accommodation in Vela Luka itself, in holiday homes, apartments and rooms as well as in hotels Korkyra and Posejdon. Gradina, Triporte, Poplat, Pi鑕na, Mikulina Luka, Tudorovica, Stratin鑙ca and 畊kova are some of the larger coves which surround Vela Luka and places where visitors can also choose to stay in peaceful holiday apartments, houses or campsites. During summer excursion lines run to Proizd, but we also organise special transfers according to our guests' desires.
Gradina Cove is one of the coves in the Bay of Vela Luka. It is 5 km-ride from the town of Vela Luka and it can be reached using the asphalt road. The broad bay is protected from most winds and represents an ideal anchorage for small boats with a freeboard of up to 4 m.
The cove is shallow, with a partially pebbly coast and a sandy bottom, which is why it is often chosen by families with children.
In 2007 the little island of Proizd was chosen as the Beach of the Year by the Croatian Tourist Board, whereas the British newspaper the Daily Telegraph placed it among the five most beautiful Adriatic beaches. Proizd has a rocky and pebbly coast and its north side is absolutely breathtaking.
During the summer season a ship service connects Proizd with Vela Luka on a daily basis. Depending on the guests' desires, Mediterano organises special transport.
Vela Spila is one of the most important archaeological sites in Europe. The large cave’s natural shape is fascinating in itself but it is its content underneath the surface that makes it unique. It was dwelled in as far back as 20,000 years ago and it is home to a small horse sculpture, the first artwork in the entire Adriatic area.
The findings from the cave are exhibited in the Vela Luka Cultural Centre, and during the summer season the cave is open to the public.
A day excursion from Vela Lula to the little island of Proizd. Enjoy the sunset while swimming and relaxing on the pebbly beaches of Proizd.
On the way to Proizd we will show you the coast of Vela Luka bay. The lunch aboard is included in the price; you will enjoy grilled fish and local, home-made wine. Then you are free to relax and swim in the transparent sea surrounding Proizd.
Thank you very much for your kindness and hospitality during our visit to Vela Luka. Your country is beautiful and your country man and women are wonderful.
Our best to you,
